A1.1 Stuck is a step, not a stop
Every math thinker gets stuck sometimes. Being stuck is a step, not a stop. Good thinkers notice the feeling, choose a strategy, and explain what they tried.
Example
You are asked: How many legs do 6 chairs have? You feel unsure.
- Notice: "This feels tricky, but I can start."
- Choose a strategy: draw 6 chairs, or count by 4s.
- Try it: 4, 8, 12, 16, 20, 24.
- Explain: "I counted by 4s because each chair has 4 legs."
Remember: Listening to a friend's way of solving is also math. There is more than one good way.
