Example

- A community is all the living things sharing one habitat and affecting each other: the tree, its insects, the birds that eat them, the squirrels, the fungi on its roots.

- Factors: a dry summer, a hard winter, road salt, a new predator, food supply.
- Winter: some residents migrate, some hibernate, and some stay active and grow thicker coats.

- When frogs outnumber what the pond supplies, some go hungry or find no shelter, and numbers fall back.
